1. Death
of Norman Rahmoeller
August 3, 2009
The Conference was saddened to learn of the death of the Rev. Norman
Rahmoeller who died Saturday, August 1st, in Springfield, Missouri.
For many years, Norman had struggled with Parkinson's Disease.
Visitation will be Tuesday, August 4th, at Gorman-Sharpf Funeral
Home, 1947 East Seminole, Springfield. The service celebrating his
life will be Wednesday, August 5th, 2 p.m. at St. John's Chapel UCC,
4344 South Fremont, Springfield.
A graduate of Eden Seminary in 1951, Rev. Rahmoeller served St.
James UCC, Morrison from 1951-1958; St. Paul UCC, Columbia, IL from
1958-1967; and Friedens UCC in Warrenton from 1967 until his
retirement in 1990. In 1991 he was designated as Pastor Emeritus at
Freidens UCC in Warrenton.
Our prayers surround his wife, Lois, sons David and Kenneth, and all
in Norman's family. Condolences may be sent to Mrs. Lois Rahmoeller,

Attached is the August issue of The Parish Paper, a two page
newsletter edited by Herb Miller, Lyle Schaller, and Cynthia
Woolever. Each edition will discuss issues, share ideas, or offer
insights on an area of parish ministry. The topic for the August
issue is: “Shepherding Congregations through Grief Storms.”

4. Death of
Jim McGinnis
August 17, 2009
Many of you may have known Jim McGinnis, founder and co-director of
the Institute for Peace & Justice. He passed away suddenly on
Thursday, August 13. Jim died of an apparent heart attack while on
his morning walk in his St. Louis neighborhood. Jim is survived by
his wife, Kathy McGinnis, co-founder and co-director of the IPJ, and
their three children—David, Tom and Theresa, and three
grandchildren.
A memorial Mass for Jim McGinnis is scheduled for Tuesday, August
18th at 7:00 PM.

The family will receive friends at the church starting at 5:00 PM.
Light refreshments will follow the Mass in the parish hall. At his
request, Jim’s body was donated to St. Louis University.

Death of Lila Elliott
August 31, 2009
We share with you the sad news that Lila Elliott died August 27,
2009 in Boonville, Missouri. Lila was the husband of Jim Elliott,
the retired pastor of St. Paul United Church of Christ, Hermann.
Upon retirement, they moved to Columbia and became members of
Columbia United Church of Christ. They had been married for over 51
years. She is also survived by her four children, grandchildren as
well as other relatives and friends.
Funeral Services will be held at Toedtmann & Grosse Funeral Home,
Hermann, Missouri at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 3rd, with
Rev. Jane Hillman & Rev. Coletta Eichenberger officiating.
Visitation will be Wednesday 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Toedtmann & Grosse
Funeral Home, Hermann, Missouri. Burial will be at Oak Haven
Memorial Gardens, Hermann, Missouri.
Memorials may be given to St. Paul U.C.C, Hermann, MO or Columbia
U.C.C, Columbia, MO C/O Toedtmann & Grosse Funeral Home. Cards of
