 2.  December Parish Paper

December 1, 2009

Attached is the December issue of The Parish Paper, a two page newsletter edited by Herb Miller, Lyle Schaller, and Cynthia Woolever. Each edition will discuss issues, share ideas, or offer insights on an area of parish ministry. The topic for the December issue is: “Are We a Leader-Sending Congregation?”

Didn’t get the previous issues? Don’t know what The Parish Paper is? A statement from Jeff Whitman, Conference Minister can be found at www.mmsucc.org/resources/parishpaper.asp as well as past issues.

How you will receive the Parish Paper: The December issue is attached to this email as a PDF. Some of you will get it, and some will not have anything attached because your Internet Service Provider (ISP) has blocked this attachment. Therefore, the Parish Paper is also available for you on the Conference Website www.mmsucc.org Just look for the link to Resources, and the drop down menu will offer Parish Paper as an option. We will post future editions of the Parish Paper on the website as we get them.

Below are some additional instructions on the use of The Parish Paper:

Our organization’s purchase of a subscription to The Parish Paper INCLUDES

1. Permission to provide copies to our staff and to the congregations within our jurisdiction in any of the following ways: E-mail, Postal, newspaper, newsletter, meetings, training events, and our Web site.

 4.  Sale of property at Eden Seminary

December 11, 2009

Dear Friends,

Many of you have heard the news that three buildings including the White House on the campus of Eden Seminary have been sold to Webster University.  In a conversation with the president of Eden Seminary this afternoon, Dr. Greenhaw confirmed the sale and told me the sale will not be finalized until sometime this summer.  Eden Seminary is offering us space on the campus to relocate the MMS Conference office.  In the next few months, we will be in conversation with Eden staff.

We do not anticipate a move before next fall or perhaps even the summer of 2011.  We will keep you informed of developments as they occur.

I hope you all have a blessed holiday season.

Peace,

Jeffrey A. Whitman
Conference Minister
