3. It's Not Too
Late to Register for PIM Retreat
September 3, 2009
Dear Friends:
I hope that your summer has been a good one filled with rest and
renewal. As you return to the fall rhythm of life in your
congregation I want to encourage you to consider joining us for the
annual Persons and Ministry Retreat at Port Arrowhead. We are
putting the finishing touches on what I believe will be an
inspirational and fun event. Our leaders for PIM this year are
planning a retreat that will engage us in rediscovering and
unlocking the creative gifts that God has given each of us. There
will be four sessions during the retreat: Uncovering the Imagination
Within Us; Embracing God’s Imagination; Exploring Creative
Community; and Releasing the Creativity of the Church in Mission and
Ministry. Each session will be divided into 4 sections:
Storytelling: to invite us to begin to reflect on the theme, A Focus
presentation: to begin to explore that theme together, Art As
Meditation: we will be divided into 3 groups one group will work
with Chris to music to engage the theme; one group will work with
Arianna to work with clay to engage the Theme; and the third group
will work with Cliff to use storytelling to engage the theme. The
fourth section will be Closing Ritual where we will share our
creativity. As you can see this retreat will be interactive – more
than sitting and listening passively to a presentation. On Tuesday
Morning Participants will be divided into six small groups of
similar ministries (pastors and laity [large churches, medium
churches, small churches], chaplains, musicians, educators) to
develop a creative Idea Action Plan for addressing a common
challenge in their area of ministry and will be invited to share
their plan as part of our closing worship.
All of this in addition to the opportunity to meet and talk with
colleagues and to enjoy the beauty of the Lake of the Ozarks. I
believe this will be prove to be a great time away, an engaging time
to reflect on your ministry, and a restful time to prepare for the
business of the fall season in the life of the church. It is not too
late to register!! I hope you will plan to join us and be a part of
PIM 2009.
Register Here.
Peace,
Jeffrey A. Whitman
