Luau at Emmaus Homes a Success

On February 12, Emmaus Homes hosted its 22nd Annual Open Your Heart Dinner at the St. Charles Convention Center. Emmaus provides residential services to 250 adults with developmental disabilities in 40 homes throughout St. Charles and Warren Counties, as well as St. Louis City and County. The Open Your Heart Dinner is its premier fundraising event, this year hosting more nearly 400 guests and raising over $75,000 to support Emmaus’ services.

This year’s Open Your Heart Dinner, the Hau’ Oli Luau (Happy Feast), included silent and oral auctions, several raffles, authentic Hawaiian dancers and music by Galaxy Band. Dr. Charles Sincox, who served for 30 years as Emmaus’ Medical Director at its Marthasville campus, was honored for his service, as were Emmaus’ employees of the year and employees with 25 or more years of service.

Conference Annual Gathering

The Annual Gathering of the Missouri Mid-South Conference will be held on the weekend of June 11-13 at Drury University in Springfield, Missouri.  Plans are underway for an exciting and inspiring time together. Learn more and keep up with plans as they unfold here.

Although this is a "FaithWorks" type gathering to which everyone is invited, there will also be an important business meeting on Saturday morning so we encourage churches to send delegates to represent your congregation at our business meeting.  During the business meeting, we will vote on the 2011 budget; adopt amendments to our conference constitution and bylaws; elect the members of our new Conference Council and our 2011/2013 General Synod delegates; and vote on the ratification of changes to the UCC constitution and bylaws.

Associate Conference Minister Search

The Missouri Mid-South Conference is seeking an Associate Conference Minister to share their gifts and skills with us in Missouri, Arkansas, and Memphis Tennessee. We are looking for a gifted pastor who will share responsibilities for search and call in our conference; provide support, guidance, and consultation with assigned covenanted ministries especially in the areas of youth, young adults, and Christian Education; and provide staff support to one Association’s Committee On Ministry.

Information and application instructions are available here.  (File is large.  Allow time for the PDF to load.)

UCC's 2030 Network Gathering

The UCC’s 2030 Clergy Network, a network of UCC pastors in their 20s and 30s, is offering an event for professional connection, renewal and worship. “Shepherding the Shepherd” will be held June 1-3 at Chicago Theological Seminary.

Conference Minister's Trip to Congo

In 2009, the Conference established a partnership with the Bokungu District of the Christian Disciples of Christ in Congo.

In February, our Conference Minister Rev. Jeffrey Whitman will join a delegation of individuals from Disciples of Christ and UCC in a mission trip to the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The trip is led by Rev. Sandra Gourdet, Area Executive for Africa with Wider Church Ministries. During the two week trip, the delegation will visit with ecumenical partners in both the Democratic Republic of the Congo and the Republic of the Congo, including representatives of the Church of Christ in the Congo; the National Women’s Department of the CCC; leaders of the Community of Disciples of Christ Church; and members of the Church of the Disciples of Christ in Congo.

Learn more about this exciting partnership and mission work here.

Men's Retreat

Our annual men's retreat for members of the Missouri Mid-South Conference is fast approaching.  We will gather at Shannondale Community Center APril 16th-18th.  This retreat for men's fellowship groups will be a great opportunity for spiritual growth, fellowship, fun, great eating and--most of all--service to the Shannondale community.  Learn more about the men's retreat.

Women's Retreat

Each year, the Missouri Mid-South Conference offers a women's retreat.  This year, the sponsoring churches are planning an exciting retreat that will provide opportunities for spiritual renewal, fellowship, singing, and gaining knowledge of other faith traditions.  Come join us for the Women's Retreat at Camp Mo-Val.

A flyer is available for churches to put on their bulletin boards, and an informational brochure with registration information is available for those interested.
