Friends of the Conference

God has blessed the Missouri Mid-South Conference with a rich legacy, faithful members, and an exciting future. The recent October/November Conference Courier was a double issue, filled with stories of ways in which the Conference ministries and our covenant partnerships together make a difference as we seek to serve God’s mission. We heard additional stories and strong support at the October Biennial Meeting for the work we do as a Conference. We have a new Conference Minister and are excited about our future together as we move ahead.

There is also the awareness that the Conference has been operating with deficits for the past several years. The decline in contributions to Our Church’s Wider Mission and rising costs make it difficult to sustain the ministry and mission as desired by our local churches. For 2007, we are anticipating a deficit of about $300,000. The 2008 budget assumes a deficit of $322,000, unless we can increase income. In the past, we have used unrestricted reserves to cover the deficits. However, the unrestricted reserves are being depleted rapidly.

As a leader and supporter of the Conference, we are inviting you to consider a “second-mile” gift to support the ministry and mission of the Conference. Because of your gifts, staff are available to assist churches in seeking new pastors, support church leaders, or simply respond to a phone call; because of your gifts, the lives of youth and young adults are changed; because of your gifts we are able to carryout God’s mission more effectively.
